Jennifer's Story
Hello! My name is Jennifer Mann. It is my pleasure to help you restore your health. I am a Board Certified Functional Nutrition & Lifestyle Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Master Gardener, Natural Foods Chef, Mother and Wife.
My passion for food started in the kitchen with my family growing up, and was inspired by church fellowships & reunions. As I matured, so did my curiosity for nutrition. I wanted to learn about the nutrients in food, how the body uses them, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease. Intuitively, I believed nutrition could help me perform, as well as protect & restore my body.
Growing up I was blessed with the opportunity to manage a blueberry & blackberry farm. Responsibilities included hiring my own workers, picking the berries, grading them, and getting to market. These impactful skills are the roots of my continued education. Harding University prepared me to be a leader and servant and I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing 1998 and was awarded Alumnus of the Year in 2011. I continue to hold active licensure in multiple states.
Before starting my Functional Nutrition & Lifestyle counseling business, I completed my education with the Functional Nutrition Alliance. I am Board Certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. I have also completed Andrea Beaman’s Courses: New Healers Master Coaching, Food and Herbs as Medicine, and Nourishing Thyroid Health with many other continuing education seminars.
Driven by the desire to help my clients and my own intellectual curiosity, I study the latest research and evaluate competing theories so I can make sense of the overwhelming and ever-changing health information now at our fingertips. Most importantly, I use that knowledge to make individualized recommendations for my clients.
I am extremely passionate about the science of human nutrition. Using a functional medicine approach is about how we use diet and lifestyle modifications to get to the root imbalances that result in disease expression and progression. So, my purpose is to serve and teach individuals how to better understand their body and take full ownership of their health. My goal is to develop a therapeutic partnership with you to provide explanations & guidelines of why you hurt, how you heal, and how you can function at your best. I am happy to work with children, adolescents, adults, seniors or families. I am available for virtual and phone consultations throughout the USA with my HIPAA secure platform, called Practice Better.

What is a functional nutrition?
Functional nutrition lookes at the “root causes” of your symptoms & addresses imbalances in the body by restoring function through food, lifestyle and if necessary, supplement interventions. It transforms dysfunctioning body systems into optimal, functional health.
Every person is bio-individual, which means an intervention that works for one person may not work for another. Each person has unique needs. We are genetically and biochemically unique. We each require a customized strategy to achieve and sustain optimal health. That’s where functional nutrition comes in. It supports the normal healing mechanisms of the body, naturally.
Symptoms are clues to the ways in which your body is not functioning the way it should be. Rather than suppress those symptoms with pharmaceutical means, I am trained to interpret those symptoms to understand which system of your body needs support.
In the programs that I offer, we will address everything that can be affecting how you feel and function. As I say to my clients, if you’re constantly stressed point, it doesn’t matter how much “good, nutritional” food you eat, you won’t be healthy. You’re not what you eat but what your body can do with what your eat.”
By using functional nutrition, I start with food, but then do so much more. I look at the whole picture – symptoms, diet, illness history, medications, lifestyle, toxic exposure, history of antibiotic use, stress, lab work, etc., to determine the most appropriate interventions to achieve optimal health.

Who will benefit from your programs and what is expected of the client?
Anyone who is ready to make real, lasting changes to their life will benefit from my programs. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, clear up a nagging digestive issue, prevent the onset of chronic disease, address auto-immune diseases, metabolic issues, hormonal issues, anxiety/depression or just generally feel healthier and more energized, these programs will work for you, as long as you’re willing to do the necessary work.
Who is not likely to benefit from your programs?
If you’re looking for another quick-fix diet or pill that will lead to super-fast results, then my programs aren’t for you. Tidbit: Weight lost very quickly through restrictive diets is gained back once you return to “normal” eating. My approach is different. By making small, slow changes to your habits, you will see slow and steady progress. This can result in keeping the pounds off for good or ridding yourself of the dis-ease of bloating, gas, brain fog, low energy, moodiness, anxiety and /or depression. You need to be an engaged partner in the process.
How can I guarantee to get the most out of the program and reach my goals?
To get the most out of my programs you just need to open your mind to new ideas, be willing to try new things. Follow the recommendations we come up with together, and have confidence in yourself that you can do this!
